A bit about this blog:

Poets are the ultimate saviors. Also, the ultimate warriors. Poetry is the water that a living being can’t live without. Drink it often. It is the sunlight that is the raw material that plants make their food from. It is the oxygen we all breathe. I bring you a small slice of the world of poetry, in easy to digest doses. One a day. Savor it.

A bit about me:

I don’t fit in any stereotypes or categories. I have had my share of the best and the worst of many worlds.

I laugh easily and open-heartedly.

I appreciate the simple things in life – the smell of fresh rain after a hot spell, a gorgeous sunset, a hug from my grandma, I love Lucy shows, cool ice cream, lounging in a hammock…

I am very open-minded, and opinionated at the same time. Know what I like and what I don’t, but always more than willing to listen to the other side, and change my opinions too.

I’m a great listener – the sounding board among my friends.

I’m an insider and an outsider in every place, in every country.

I believe each of us is a unique individual; but many of us aren’t aware of our own individuality.

I am unique. Kind. A child at heart. Have a sense of humor, a quirky one. I am open-minded and open-hearted to the entire universe. Intelligent, aware, honest, Spiritual, but not overtly religious or ritualistic/superstitious. I want to live a meaningful life and evaluate myself and the path I am on. Ultimately, my strength is that I am willing to be mySelf.

  1. Hi:

    I really appreciate this blog.
I posted a comment to the January 9 Rumi poem :”Effort” and was hoping to have had a reply about its source. Do you remember which book it came from. Thanks

    • Hi Carole,
I’m so sorry, I saw your comment and meant to get back to you.
I’m sure that poem must’ve been published in several books, I’ll find a source and get back to you in a day or so.
My hunch is it must have been included in ‘The Essential Rumi’ by Coleman Barks. But I’ll confirm and let you know.
Thanks so much for coming back, any other feedback you have would be wonderful 🙂

    • Hello Ziaur Rehman,
I like wordpress.com as a hosting site. You can go there, create an account, then choose a domain name (I chose “poemfortoday.wordpress.com”) it’ll check to see if it’s available, and you are all set.

As for choosing the poetry, I look everywhere, in books I have, online on other websites, I remember authors I like or ones someone recommended to me…

      Hope that helps!
for technical issues, look up the Help section on wordpress.com, it’s very helpful.

      take care!
